Good and Bad news
Good news: The symptoms all point to migraines and I’ve gotten some medications to help with the headaches and other problems. Nothing serious at a neurological level.
Bad news: I’m still in a cycle of sensitivity to light and prolonged use of laptop screen at close distance still leads to the symptoms acting up. Since I have to do this for eight hours a day for work still, it’ll take a little longer for it to go away.
So it sounds like I’ll have to postpone the recipes again. At this point, I’ll hopefully resume next Thursday (or slightly earlier if I can get my act together with the 300 benchmark).
Thanks for the understanding and kind words. I hope to get back to the swing of things soon.
Having some vision problems…
Hey everyone,
For the last week, I’ve been having some problems with blurry vision and being able to look at screens for an extended period of time. I’ve got an appointment with the doctors this Friday, so until I get a better hold on what’s going on, I’ll probably have to hold off posting new recipes for tomorrow and this coming Sunday. Hopefully, I’ll be back in full force for next Thursday.
Thanks for understanding. Hope you have a good week. :D

Anonymous asked: Where is your 300 follower recipe??? It's been a while since you mentioned it...
It’s in the works; my brother can testify that we had a lot of fun working on it this weekend. I’ll say it’s about 70% complete.
The recipe is pretty ambitious, and with lots of obligations with family and work, it’s been hard to get consistent momentum. Hopefully, I’ll get it done soon and before the 400 follower count. XD
Thanks for being patient. You guys will like it. :D
yamammiwammi asked: one of the coolest blogs ive seen. super duper huge ToS fan and just flipping through this brought back memories <3 keep it up!
Glad that you think it’s cool! As I’ve been getting more into the naming, it’s certainly nostalgic to go back through game scenes and scripts. Nowadays, I always have an FAQ for it open in one tab, whether it’s a tech list or a script.
And I approve of the use of super duper. That needs to be brought back.

Help with Gingerific Fried Rice

For reference: Gingerific Fried Rice
I’m generally not the best at cooking rice by itself either. My two strategies generally are:
A) Continue cooking the rice on low/medium heat with the cover off. This allows some of the steam to get out of the rice entirely.
B) Let the frying pan do the work. (I mean, it’s gonna be cooked again, anyway XD) When I add the rice to the pan with the meat and veggies, the pan’s still pretty hot, so you have the chance to get rid of the excess water by sautéing it. If it’s really watery, use a slotted spoon to transfer the rice. Just don’t add the egg until the rice is at the right consistency; soggy rice is on thing, but soggy eggs are on an entirely different plane of bad things.
As for the chicken, I used a lot more ginger than garlic for this dish. When it cooks, you’ll get that reddish color, but as you suspect only with a lot of it. The way I spice is pretty hands-on; after putting the initial layer of spice on, I mix it up a lot with my hands, ensuring a mostly even coating. (With thorough washing of my hands, of course.) It gives me a chance to assess whether I have enough to get the whole surface area of my chicken, and I can adjust as necessary. Also, it helps to up the heat on the frying pan, as searing the meat will help you get the browning which is really what gets meat tasty and fused with whatever spices you put on it.
Hopefully that helps!
300+ Followers!!!!
There is much need for rejoicing. I feel someone needs to make a collection of gifs of Raine kicking Harley 300/”THIS IS SPARTA” style. (Please, :D?)
Bad jokes aside, notes for this milestone:
A) It’s time to eat some potion. (This one might take a while since it’s a little ambitious.)
B) I’ve been tagging the recipes with the first names and full names of each character. (i.e. Lloyd and Lloyd Irving.) Since there’s no real reason to add the clutter, I’m thinking of removing the first name tag and just stick to the full name. Any objections?
C) My usual call for feedback. My askbox is always open, anon or not, and hearing from you guys always helps to make the blog better. Any recommendations?
